Expand Plus for Confluence
The collapsible section Confluence should have shipped: it can start open, its header can be given a colour, and it holds images, tables, code and panels without argument.

Read this before you install. Other macros do not render inside an Expand Plus section — not Jira issues, not tables of contents, not another Expand Plus. That is a limit of Atlassian's renderer, which will not draw one macro inside another macro's body, and no app can work around it. Nothing is ever removed from your page; the section shows a line naming what was there and asking you to move it out. If your sections need to contain macros, use Confluence's built-in expand instead. We would rather you knew now than after.

Common questions
How do I make a section start open?
Edit the page, click the section, open its settings, and set Start expanded to "Yes". Readers can still close it.
How do I change the header colour?
Same settings panel — Header colour. Grey, blue, green, yellow, red or purple. They follow the reader's light or dark theme automatically.
My Jira issue macro disappeared inside a section
It has not disappeared. Atlassian's renderer will not draw one macro inside another macro's body, so the section shows a line naming what was there and asking you to move it out. Open the editor and you will find the macro still sitting inside the section, intact.
Move it above or below the section and it renders normally. This limit applies to every macro, and no app can work around it.
Can I put one section inside another?
No. Confluence's document format removes the inner one when the page is saved. We tested this directly rather than assuming it. Use Confluence's built-in expand if you need nesting.
What can go inside a section?
Text, headings, links, bold and italic, bullet and numbered lists, tables, code blocks with syntax colouring, info and warning panels, status labels, emoji, dates, mentions and images. Everything except other macros.
Does the app read my page content?
It does not request permission to. The app declares no permission scopes at all — the section's contents arrive with the macro when Confluence renders the page, and are gone when the render ends. Nothing is stored or sent anywhere.
How do I remove it?
Uninstall from Manage apps in Confluence. Your page content is untouched; sections revert to showing their contents on the page.
